The Education and Public Engagement (EPE) program of Simons Observatory (SO) has four primary goals
- Present the work of SO scientists to those outside the collaboration (other scientists and the general public).
- Coordinate events and programs which bring our work (and the field of cosmology in general) to non-scientists.
- Provide infrastructure for SO members to undertake educational activities that get young students excited about science.
- Create programs that aid in the training of junior SO members.
The EPE group attempts to meet these goals through a series of programs which are still evolving. These programs currently include maintenance of the SO website, which is one part of the public face of the collaboration; and management of the SO social media accounts, which provide a frequently updated public face for the organization.
